At Encirc, sustainability isn’t just a goal, it’s a core part of our business strategy.

So it was with much delight that we recently learned that our Derrylin site has achieved Platinum Level in Business in the Community’s Business & Biodiversity Charter.  This is the highest recognition achievable in the charter and reflects our commitment to protecting and enhancing biodiversity.

The Business & Biodiversity Charter is an initiative of responsible business network Business in the Community, which helps businesses implement biodiversity initiatives and provides external recognition of measures already in place to ensure that plants, animals, bugs, bacteria, habitats and humans can thrive and work effectively and in balance.

At Encirc, we believe businesses have a vital role in tackling society’s biggest environmental challenges. Through the Charter, we’ve implemented initiatives that help nature thrive ensuring balance for all life.

This achievement is a testament to the hard work of our Biodiversity Committee and partners who share our vision for a sustainable future.

Encirc Sustainability Director, Fiacre O’Donnell said: “We’re proud to receive this important recognition from Business in the Community. Biodiversity is a key focus in our sustainability vision.

“A huge well done to our committed Biodiversity Committee, whose incredible work with local schools and communities, and collaboration with other businesses, continues to expand the reach and impact of our projects.”

Dr. Lisa McIlvenna, Managing Director, Business in the Community NI said: “We are delighted to recognise Encirc with Platinum level achievement in the Business & Biodiversity Charter.

“Enhancing biodiversity is fundamental for ensuring a sustainable future for all and ensuring long-term business survival. Many businesses and their suppliers rely on stable, healthy ecosystems for their production processes and to treat and dissipate waste, so it is imperative that companies take action to ensure our natural environment is protected.”
