Encirc to support mentoring scheme for sixth form girls
Encirc is set to support sixth form girls throughout Northern Ireland, after signing up to the SistersIn Leadership Programme.
The SistersIN Leadership Programme is an innovative eight-month development journey for sixth form girls to help build their confidence and broaden their career perspectives.
The programme delivers leadership development training, mentorship from female business leaders and project leadership experience.
Encirc will be piloting the programme, with a small group of women volunteers from the business, mentoring and training some of the students this school year.
Fiacre O’Donnell, Director of Sustainability at Encirc commented: “This is a tremendous initiative, and we are delighted to support SistersIn this year with some of the women in our workplace putting themselves forward as mentors. We would like to see some of our local schools get involved in the years to come and I know SistersIn is excited about growing the programme going forward.”
Sarah Abernethy, Talent Projects Specialist and the Encirc lead for the project added: “Encirc is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace and we see this as a tremendous opportunity to empower young females in this community. Manufacturing is not known historically as a place where there is a large female representation within the workforce. We want to show that that does not have to be the case.
“We have the chance now to drive forward into the future with a true purpose, providing the young ladies in the west of this country with the support, encouragement, guidance and experience to thrive and drive all our businesses to a new, equal, future, that will transform our world.”
The company announced its support of SistersIN at the recent Dynamic Leadership event at Lough Erne Resort organised by the NI Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Encirc.
