Supporting our local community and employees for a better future

Press Release
December 2017

As a manufacturer, we believe we play a critical role in creating a more sustainable future for our planet. This holds true from minimising the environmental impact of our manufacturing, right through to supporting the local communities in which we operate and our employees lives.

We recently committed to investment at our Elton plant with the development of an on-site railhead. This is set to significantly reduce our carbon footprint, cutting down road miles and streamlining our supply chain. We also recently invested in new furnace rebuilds at our Derrylin and Elton sites. Set to be completed in 2021, these will make the furnaces more energy efficient.

In 2016, we received the Marketplace Leadership Award for our commitment to developing innovative products that encourage responsible customer behaviour and more sustainable lifestyles. Additionally, just a couple of months ago, we were accredited with CORE Standard for Responsible Business, which was a fantastic achievement for the business. The highly sought after accreditation required us to demonstrate competence, skill and innovation in several different elements of company strategy, all showing a commitment to people, places and the planet.

While these investments and recognitions are vital to ensure Encirc remains at the forefront of sustainable manufacturing solutions, we are also highly conscious of supporting our local communities, and helping our team to overcome their own personal challenges.

From fireworks to football kits, Encirc and our employees have earned some fantastic achievements. Elton cold end engineer Darren made an amazing effort to complete the Tough Mudder Challenge earlier this year, raising money to buy a new wheelchair for his son, who has a rare chromosome disorder. Another of our employees, Matt, and some of his friends, completed a marathon cycle from London to Amsterdam. The boys pedalled for more than 340 miles to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

In 2017, our Elton plant made some fantastic contributions towards the local community. Encirc funded new visibility jackets for community members who operate speed awareness cameras in the village. We also invested in some flower pots across the village to brighten up the roads and walkways. One of our bigger projects saw Encirc partnering with Enniskillen Rangers to sponsor football kits for children in Zambia. We supported 20 Ambassadors in bringing the joy of football to an impoverished area.

Corporate social Responsibility is both important and enriching for businesses in every sector. It helps to build relationships as well as reputation. We’re always looking for the next step towards improving our business, in terms of productivity and supporting our local community and employees for a better future.
