Raising a glass to LWF

June 2014

This month saw London Wine Fair (LWF) return to what many regard as its spiritual home –Olympia, London.

LWF is renowned for its diverse mix of exhibitor stands, seminars and masterclasses, and the latest show did not disappoint. What’s more, LWF 2014 marked the launch of the Encirc Wines sponsored Carpe Vinum report, which explores trends in buying behaviour among wine consumers aged 18-35 (Generation Y).

The Encirc Wines team and I travelled down to the event, and there was a real buzz and excitement throughout the three days. We were busy on-stand, hosting a number of wine tastings to demonstrate the quality of bulk shipped wine to delegates. In addition, we unveiled our brand new carbon saving app that helps importers work out how much money and carbon they can save by bulk shipping. Both of these certainly drew a crowd and showed how globalised the wine industry has become.

As well as this on-stand activity, our winemaking consultant, Justin Knock, presented two informative and thought provoking talks on the effect sulphur dioxide levels have on wine and how best to manage these. Justin’s seminar was well-received, raising some important points for wine producers looking to ensure a high-quality final product.

For us, the highlight of the show was undoubtedly meeting our customers and finding out more about developments in their businesses. After the successes of LWF 2014, we’re already looking forward to next year’s show!
