Encirc gets to the heart of the matter with three-sites fundraiser

Encirc recently got to the heart of the matter to reinforce its commitment to health and wellbeing.
In February, the UK glass manufacturer and bottle filler actively participated in the British Heart Foundation’s Heart Month.
In support of raising awareness for cardiovascular health and funding lifesaving research, Encirc implemented various initiatives across its three sites to help make a difference in the fight against heart disease.
Firstly, they provided two RevivR training sessions at each of their sites during February. Through RevivR, their people were able to learn how to save a life through defibrillator training and CPR, and all received a certificate.
This quick and easy training was a resounding success giving their people more confidence to be able to perform CPR in the workplace and the wider community.
Staff were regularly updated with opportunities to attend online webinars, receiving useful links and manuals all from the British Heart Foundation. These ranged from useful tips on blood pressure to healthy heart tips.
The activities culminated with a 24-hour bike challenge across all three Encirc sites which all have their own gym.
Over 100 members of staff took part in the challenge, cycling in half-hour slots, simply trying to ride as many miles as possible in the time permitted.
Health and Wellbeing Partner, John Thornbury, who facilitated the event, said: “It was great to see our sites all coming together for such an important cause. The response we had was unbelievable, and the comradery across the sites, all whilst raising money for the British Heart Foundation, was great to see.’’
Head of British Heart Foundation Northern Ireland, Fearghal McKinney, said: “A massive thank you to Encirc for their fantastic fundraising efforts for the BHF during Heart Month. It was wonderful to see colleagues at all three sites partner with us to learn lifesaving skills through our RevivR CPR training, educate themselves on how to keep their hearts healthy and take part in a 24-hour cyclathon.
“Their efforts will help fund vital lifesaving research into heart and circulatory conditions, which will help improve treatments and find cures to give people more time with loved ones.”
The challenge was a resounding success, raising over £2,700 with the cyclists using their pedal power to clock up an amazing 1,200 miles.
All in all, this event was a great success, giving the Encirc people important life skills that they can use inside and outside of work as well as raising invaluable funds for a most worthy cause.
