Equity, Diversity and Inclusion are key drivers of long-term business success.

That was the key takeaway from a recent Diversity Brunch at the Encirc factory in Derrylin.

Encirc, in collaboration with Diversity Mark, organised the event which was attended by representatives from progressive local businesses including Greentown, Balcas, Mannok, and AG.

Encirc’s Managing Director, Sean Murphy, and Sustainability Director, Fiacre O’Donnell shared insights from their Diversity Mark journey and the benefits it has brought to their organisation.

Sean Murphy reflected: “Partnering with Diversity Mark at this Brunch was very beneficial as we continue our EDI journey at Encirc. The event gave us an opportunity to engage with like-minded businesses and, in so doing, we shared our experiences of working with the Diversity Mark programme.

“It was invaluable to exchange best practices and learn from one another. Everyone in the room agreed on the importance of having a meaningful EDI strategy in place and making commitments to take action to make all employees feel included.”

Sean explained: “We are currently working towards our Silver Diversity Mark Accreditation, reaffirming our commitment to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace where all employees feel valued, safe, and respected. The support from Christine White and Diversity Mark has been invaluable throughout this journey.”

Christine White, Director at Diversity Mark, said: “Having joined the Diversity Mark initiative six years ago, Encirc is demonstrating their dedication to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.”

She added: “With a people-first approach, we explored the opportunities that arise when businesses commit to meaningful Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) strategies. Leadership commitment remains the key to driving sustainable cultural change.”

Diversity Mark represents one in four employees in Northern Ireland working for an employer committed to their accreditation journey.

Their framework equips organisations with the tools to identify and analyse opportunities, take meaningful action, and receive ongoing support through independent assessments, expert feedback, and peer collaboration.
