Encirc has teamed up with its IT partner to supply schools on either side of the Fermanagh Cavan Border with much needed computer and musical equipment to enhance the learning resources at the schools.

This is the second tranche of equipment donated via the collaboration between Encirc and its IT supplier Complete IT Systems (CIT).

In January of this year, both St. Aidan’s, Derrylin and Kill National School, Cootehill benefitted from the delivery of repurposed laptops, old equipment restored by CIT and made fit for purpose.

This important development not only provided vital equipment for the schools but also promoted the use of a circular economy by saving the laptops from landfill.

Now this month, St. Aidan’s, Cootehill and St. Aidan’s, Derrylin have benefitted from a second round of collaboration between Complete IT and Encirc.

In Derrylin, the school’s music department was presented with new music keyboards and soundproof headphones, essential tools that will support students preparing for their GCSEs.

These headphones will also benefit the SENCO department, providing a quiet, distraction-free environment for students who need additional focus and support.

Similarly, St Aidan’s, Cootehill received soundproof headphones for their SENCO pupils, which will provide several benefits, including:

  • Reducing sensory overload thereby helping students concentrate and learn more effectively
  • Creating a calm environment to support emotional regulation and minimising stress
  • Improving inclusivity, allowing all pupils to engage in lessons at their own pace.

Encirc was also delighted to welcome Malcolm Reid from Complete IT Systems, who joined Amanda Broughton, Encirc at St Aidan’s, Derrylin to oversee the latest delivery of the keyboards and see first-hand the impact for the schools.

Malcolm said: “I’m delighted to have been invited to Derrylin by Encirc and introduced to the staff and pupils of St. Aidian’s High School to see how the continued partnership between Complete IT Systems and Encirc is benefitting the local community.

“Through the donation of much needed IT and other equipment for the school, I’m excited to see what else we can do with this initiative going forward.”

Fiacre O’Donnell, Sustainability Director at Encirc added: “We are incredibly proud of the social impact this partnership continues to create, fostering better educational outcomes and supporting the unique needs of all students.

“In addition, we are also promoting the importance of a circular economy and highlighting how this can be achieved by joining forces with like-minded companies.”
