Encirc Wines' Outing to KidsOut fundraiser

Encirc Wines staff and customers recently attended a fundraising event for KidsOut, a charity dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children across the UK. The organisation carries out fantastic work throughout the country, offering vulnerable children positive experiences to support them into becoming future members of our society.

Encirc Wines and Encirc Glass have been supporting the charity for seven years, and last week Fiacre O’Donnell, Jan Cockburn and I – along with some of the teams from Chivas, Highland Spring and Uniserve – headed to the ‘A Question of Sport’ themed evening. The fundraiser was held at The Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow, a very grand location for what was to be a brilliant night of generosity (and dubious quiz questions).

As part of the Andorra team – our adopted country for the evening – we were put through our paces, taking part in all the usual Question of Sport-style tasks: general knowledge questions, a ‘what happened next’ round and even a mystery guest to uncover. Owing to our country’s small size (that’s our excuse anyway!), we struggled to make an impact during the quiz and finished 19th out of 28.

More importantly, with two auctions on the night, KidsOut was able to raise in excess of £40,000, which will now go to help thousands of isolated or disadvantaged children up and down the country. We were incredibly impressed with the organization of the evening and amazed at the extent to which the charity undertakes its vital work. We’re proud to support KidsOut and are thrilled that so much money was collected at the fundraiser – even if we did lose the quiz!
